Non Uniform Day – Wear Yellow
1st February – Festival Day – Vasant Panchami
Dear Parents,
School will be celebrating the Hindu Festival – Vasant Panchami on Thursday 1st February.
Children will be able to come to school wearing something yellow. The festival celebrates the arrival of Spring, and is also known as the festival of kites, because children fly kites to celebrate freedom and enjoyment. The colour yellow is important as it symbolises Spring, and the fields in India are full of yellow mustard flowers.
During the day, the children will take part in various activities: finding out about the Goddess Saraswati who is the goddess of learning and knowledge, making kites and streamers; and creating tissue paper marigolds to help celebrate the festival.
If you have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to see me in school.
Thank you,
Mrs. Firminger.
