Welcome to Year 4!
I am so excited to welcome you all to year 4, we are all really looking forward to the wonderful year we have ahead of us. From exciting visits, fun lessons and the multiplication tables check, we are going to have an amazing year.
Who’s in our classroom?
Your class teacher this year will be Mr Weston!
Along with the class teacher we have two teaching assistants helping us, they are:
Miss Biczak and Miss Young.
Year 4 will also be taught once a week by Mr Whiteside and Miss Johnston along with our PE coach.
We are all extremely excited to start learning.
What can you expect?
In the summer term you will take the Year 4 National Multiplication Tables Check. Do not fear! We have plenty of time to keep busy learning all of our times tables throughout the year. Remember to keep practicing at home too!
We also ask that you bring your reading book back to school every day. Please read with an adult at home at least 3 times a week and have them sign your reading record. We will change the books frequently, so you always have something new and exciting to read.
Indoor PE will be on a Tuesday so please bring in and leave your indoor kit for this day; Outdoor PE will be on a Thursday if you can please bring your kit when needed.
Throughout the year you will work hard and have fun learning all about a range of different topics where you will have the chance to be a historian, geographer, mathematician, scientist, researcher, writer and above all yourself!
We are really looking forward to the year ahead of us, keep checking our page on the website to see what we have been up to!

Year 4 have been learning all about their local area of Blackpool and have started looking at the tourism opportunities that Blackpool has to offer. They were set the task of finding out for themselves! They walked around the local area noting down what they could see. This helped them further explore their learning question for this half term: What makes Blackpool attractive to tourists?
The children were brilliant and are starting to think about whether Blackpool has enough attractions to keep tourists happy!

They've begun to investigate what happens to the sound when we hit an instrument harder. In their last lesson, they used a range of drums, along with some rice, to investigate:
- What happens when we hit the drum harder?
- What will the vibrations do to the rice?
- What will happen to the sound?

WALKER ART GALLERY AND WORLD MUSEUM (16.10.25)
STORY TELLING WITH THE GREEKS WORKSHOP
Class 4 had an amazing time in Liverpool visiting the Walker Art Gallery where we had a fantastic workshop looking at the Greek Myth of Atalanta and Meleager. We used our inference skills to infer the story from the painting. We had a lovely time walking around the gallery using this skill from our workshop to infer what other paintings were about. We also looked around the world cultures section of the Liverpool World Museum where we found a statue of a Greek God! The children also had a lovely time in the aquarium where we uncovered that Ancient Greek doctors used stingray venom as an anaesthetic! We're very thankful they don’t do that now.
GREEK THEATRE (8.10.25)
During History in class 4 we had a look at Greek theatre! We even had a go at making our own Greek Tragedy, Satyr and Comedy. After many laughs and tears we all collectively agree that Greek theatre is pretty amazing.
