CLASS 5 RUGBY READING FESTIVAL
Class 5 visited Fylde Rugby Club for a festival of Rugby and Reading to link in with the programme they have been doing in school with Sam, one of the coaches from Fylde Rugby.
The class listened to an author to discover all about his love for reading and how this helped him to become an author. They then went onto the next workshop to design book covers and write the blurbs. The children were then energised at the Loud Speaker workshop which helped to develop their confidence and public speaking skills.
After lunch, the children were out on the rugby pitch putting their rugby skills to the test against each other and another school. The final workshop was led by the BAE STEM team, the high-tech workspace allowed the children to control drones, take on engineering challenges and turn themselves into fighter pilots.
To end the festival there was a presentation which saw two of our children presented with medals for demonstrating the core values of the Rugby Reading Programme.
