ST JOHN'S SCHOOL VALUES:

Love; Friendship; Kindness; Honesty; Forgiveness

Welcome to Reception Class!

We are so excited to welcome your child to school and start our learning journey together.

Your class teacher is Mrs Zinna, and our wonderful teaching assistants are Mrs Johnson, Mrs Dixson, and Mrs Campbell.

This term, our learning is inspired by the changing seasons as we will be learning all about Autumn. To bring our learning to life, we will read one core text a week, exploring wonderful stories and rich vocabulary together. We are starting our reading adventure with the fantastic story 'Little Rabbit Foo Foo'! You can stay connected with everything your child achieves, as everything will be shared on Tapestry through regular photos and updates.

To help our days run smoothly, please ensure the following items are brought into school:

  • PE bags: These should be brought to school and left on your child's peg so they are always ready for physical activity.
  • Wellies: Please provide a pair of wellies to be left at school so we can explore outdoors in all weathers.
  • Outdoor clothing: Please ensure your child comes to school with a waterproof, warm coat every day so they stay comfortable during outdoor play.
  • Water bottles: Children need to bring a water bottle daily. Please note we have a strictly water-only policy—no juice or squash in water bottles, please.
  • Labelling: Please ensure everything is named—including clothing, shoes, bags, and water bottles—so lost items can easily find their way back to your child.

A quick note regarding home time: At home time, please be patient with us during the first few weeks. We need to get to know everyone and safely match the children to their correct parents to ensure a secure handover. Thank you for your cooperation!
